What a whirlwind of a weekend! I (Erin) competed with a customer's Kerry Blue Terrier, Connor, Friday afternoon, and a friend's toy Poodle, Sticks on Saturday. This was my first time in the A division, the highest level of competition, so I expected to be paying my dues as a rookie. My goal was for personal improvement in both the classes I entered. While I did not place either day, I was able to get some constructive criticism on my grooms to improve my chances next time. After the competitions, I was approached by one of the judges who proceeded to tell me how well I had done in the poodle class. She gave me some pointers, but wanted mostly to compliment me on my groom. This was very encouraging as she did not have to tell me this.
Sunday was a day of rest and shopping, what could be better? We were able to purchase some new products, of which we're most excited about PlaqClnz, a new dental hygiene routine for pets. We are currently trying it on our own babies to see if it does all it says it does. We will explain further what it does at a later date when we have some more experience with the product. All in all it was a very successful and informative weekend. Attending these shows always seems to re-energize us and help renew our motivation. Now we can look forward to the New England Pet Grooming Professionals Fall Festival and Trade Show November 6-8.
